WARNING: DO NOT SIGN ANY FORMS FROM THEM!

exhibitor-warning

Some guide book publishers (i.e. Construct Data/ Fair Guide/ International Fairs Directory) have been approaching our exhibitors and requesting company information for updates to an online directory. They have obtained the names of exhibitors without our knowledge or agreement. Their offers may bear the bold captions or logo of our exhibitions and our company name, but Cloud Expo Asia Pte Ltd has absolutely no connection with them. By signing an agreement with Construct Data/ Fair Guide/ International Fairs Directory, you commit yourself to paying for a 3 years advertisement commitment at a significant cost.

We do not have a partner agreement or relationship with Fair Guide, International Fairs Directory nor any of their other brands. Please remember that we will normally require exhibitors to update their company profile via the Online Exhibitor Manual only. Exhibitors receiving correspondences from unusual sources are advised to scrutinize them carefully. If in doubt, please contact us for clarification.

If you have been affected by the solicitation, here are a few tips that have worked for others:
  • Write to your local trading standards organization to report the incident. They should be able to give you some good advice.
  • Optional: write a polite but explicit letter back stating that you have been mis-sold and that they are passing themselves off as expo organisers due to the way they present their information.
  • DO NOT PAY ANYTHING.
  • Stop engaging with them and wait out the legal-threat storm.

Please note that this is not an instruction as to what to do, but just a guide on how others have extracted themselves from this extortion. (Please visit www.aeo.org.uk/expoguide for further advice)

UK tech trade body techUK has released a second Covid-19 survey investigating the effects of the pandemic on the nation's technology sector, building on an initial survey published last month that indicated the sector might be insulated from much of the impact.

Over 100 technology organisations responded to the updated urvey - half of them small businesses with less than 50 employees. techUK counts 850 companies as members that collectively employ almost half of UK tech sector employees.

Overall, the sector still seems cautiously optimistic that the most extreme economic effects of the outbreak can be avoided, with only 6 percent fearing a halt to trading in the short-term. Longer term, businesses are more uncertain, with 30 percent concerned about their ability to trade if restrictions are extended.
